Tor-nay-dough

So, not to freak y'all out, but we had a fabulous and wicked thunderstorm at 2am on Sunday, it was neat. Turns out a Tornado popped out about 3 miles away from our house. (I thought it was extra windy) But, no worries, we're invincible. The newspapers' story And to further prove our super-hero like invincibility, check out how close it was!!!

Joely got a new job @ Wamu within 2 days of being laid off, (nice try, corporate America and "the man", don't mess with my Joely) I just got a call from that awesome Physical Therapy / Osteopath / Yoga office again. Last Tuesday they said they hired someone else, and I was way bummed out, but they called today asking if I'm still interested. Whoahoho, looks like they realized they chose an inferior massage therapist. I will rock their faces off.

38th Anniversary

Looks like Dad and Mom are on a roll after 38 wedded years on June 15!

Joel's Birthday

On June 16, Joel will kiss another year good-by! You're lookin' good, kid!

Sedona-Land

We hiked until we dropped in Sedona last week. Fortunately, the weather stayed cool enough so we could hike 1-2 times each day. Then we ate a lot, lounged at the pool, and ate some more.

The timeshare was in a great location and we did lots of grilling on the gas grills. Took a four-hour train ride through Verde Canyon and visited Jerome, a defunct mining town located high on the side of a big hill.

It's raining in Tucson today!

Whats new

Well, the Spurs are about to win again, thats awesome!! My littlest sister Anni is getting married July 7th (instead of January '08) so you can imagine the mad rush to find a way up to Seattle that's happening with the Kennedy Krew right now. Also my other sister Beth just bought her 1st house and can move in the same day, so as soon as we get to Seattle we'll be bombarded with wedding whatnots and helping Beth pack. Yay!

WHOOOO SPURS JUST WON! 103-92!

Ok, back to updates... We are teaching Lily to walk with us, not drag us, so naturally that means Kodi is having to re-learn that too. Our shoulders hurt from being ripped out of the sockets, and our hands hurt from gripping the leashes! The cats are the same as usual, fat and lazy.

Joel got a rad new laptop from Wamu, but that's about all the radness that place will dish out. He's also about to be sorta-old, but only has 1 grey hair, (it's in his left eyebrow) so not bad! He's doing better than me! (I found 3 in my head about 2 years ago. Now my hairs dyed)

I am training my dreads not to stand on end and am having fun weirding out the old retired snobs who come to my gym. Joel's 1st show with his band is this Wednesday, and we can't wait! That hammock from Mexico fits perfectly on our back tree with the other one, except we have too many mosquito's out to enjoy it enough.

Annnnnnd, yah. I'm just killing time and blabbing. Hope things are good with y'all. Our camera died so here's a web cam picture of us (real camera coming soon)

GO SPURS GO!

Hello Springs Across the United States!

Well, it is official...I am now a junior at Mizzou. I'm halfway done, and can kind of see a light at the end of the tunnel (not all the way, but kind of). I got a dog! I've had him since February. His name is Albert, and he is 8 months old, and he is a pekingese. He's very adorable (that is him above, after his first haircut!)

I got a new job! I'm working at a car dealership as a part-time receptionist...it works wonderfully around my school schedule. It's pretty nice, I get to do my homework at work. I feel as though I get paid to do my homework. Now that school is out though, I tend to get a little bored!

Matt and Tiffany had their first baby! Her name is Ashlyn Paige Whitney. She was born 3 weeks early, and weighed around 5lbs. She now weighs around 6.5lbs. She is soooo tiny! I was so scared to even hold her! Sarah and Brayden have another one on the way! Their baby is due in mid-June. They (of course) did not find out the sex of the baby!

In August, I am moving into a house with two girlfriends. The house is super close to campus so I won't even have to drive to campus! It will be so nice to not have to drive to campus!

Just thought I'd update everyone on what is going on on the Whitney side of the fam! Sounds like all the Springs are doing wonderful!

California

Hey Adam and Miss Christy! I don't know why we haven't said anything earlier about this... too much on the brain, but Joel and I are meeting my sister Beth and her baby in California on the 17th, and staying thru the 24th, doing the whole Grandma tour with baby Troy, and of course Disneyland! Wanna meet up? I know it's short notice, sorry!

:D

Easter's Almost Here!

Wow, I think the Easter Holiday really crept up on us...I am making selections for the Easter Bunny this year and am trying to decide on themes...for Emilio I was thinking either Pirates or Fishing and Mallory...ugh. It keeps getting harder, maybe just a lot of candy.
So just a few updates: Emilio got student of the month at school! He really deserved it, he has been working so hard. My brother Jason is planning a summer wedding to his longtime girlfriend Kara. I am so excited for them. So we'll be heading to Colorado in June to celebrate and kayak of course! We have been enjoying some great weather lately, very mild. Should be perfect for any special visitors coming to NorCal :) So excited!!!!!

Javelina Attack

A whole herd of javelina sauntered through our yard and several of the neighbors this week munching whatever appealed to them in broad daylight! They look pretty well fed, don't they?

Joel's Movie Pick of the Week!

Alright, so I'm probably going to do this more than once a week so just deal with it buuuuut Joel's movie pick of the week is "Stranger than Fiction". I would recommend leaving the safety of your computer chair and renting this phenomenal movie immediately! This film deals quite a bit with mortality and knowing one's own eminent future in a quirky and highly creative why. I don't want to say more with out giving the movie away other than saying this is not your normal Will Ferrell movie although he does throw in a dynamite performance. Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson also deliver noteworthy performances in this film from the director of "Finding Neverland".

Hunting and fishing

This past weekend we went camping at Lake Amador which is between Stockton and Sacramento. This place was put on the earth for one thing: fishing. We took the canoe and had a great time. We had perfect weather, good food (biscuits and gravy, hot dogs and lots and lots of smores) and the best sleep that Adam and I have ever had on a camping trip thanks to the cushy queen sized air mattress that we got (yes, the kids still slept on the ground).
We even managed to bring home a nice sized trout that we grilled on Monday. We did not catch the fish on our own, but some nice semi-pro fisherman let us have our pick of his catch for the day. I had the opportunity to show Mallory how to clean a fish. I do not remember it being that gross.
I am casting my net out for a new career opportunity. I am flying to LA on Thursday to interview with another retailer for a district management position. I have also had 3 interviews with a European company that has a regional office in SFO. We'll see what happens. Being back in the stores has been exhausting to say the least, but it has been fun too. If anyone has a suggestion for a company I should check out, let me know!

What really bugs us...

Look what we found in a recent bag of "pre-washed" lettuce! Our advice is to wash to lettuce anyway, and you, too, may have a surprise awaiting. This is probably the biggest moth we have ever seen. He just wouldn't tear with the rest of the lettuce!
Thanks, Jeni, for establishing the Springalings blog so we can bring you exciting information from our kitchen to yours!
